What: A team-based competition in mathematical divisions. Each team must be made up of 4 students. The competition levels are Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. The competition will consist of two parts, individual tests (see rules) and a team competition (see rules). Click here to see sample tests and sample team questions.

Eligibility: Students may compete at the level of their current mathematics course. If a student has completed a course in the first semester and has just started a new course for the second semester, the student may compete in either division. (Example: Bob took Algebra II in the fall. Bob will start Pre-Calculus at the beginning of the spring semester. Bob could compete at either the Algebra II or Pre-Calculus level).

Individual Tests: The individual test will be a 25-question multiple-choice exam which the students will have one hour to complete. The students will receive 4 points for each correct answer and -1 points for each incorrect answer. A blank answer will count for 0 points.

Team Competition: The team competition will consist of 12 questions. Each team will have their own table and will work collaboratively to achieve the answer in the quickest time possible. There will be a maximum of 4minutes on each team questions. The point value awards to each correct answer will decrease over time. The teams will be awarded 16 points for a correct answer in the first minute, 12 points for a correct answer in the second minute, 8 points awarded for a correct answer in the third minute, and 4 points for a correct answer in the fourth minute.

Team Score: The team score will be determined by adding the scores of the individual tests of the 4 members plus the team competition score.

School Score: The school score will be determined by totaling the scores of their Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus teams. A school must be entered in all these divisions to be considered for the school award.

Awards: Awards will be given to the individual test winners in each division, the team winners in each division, and the top three schools.
