Putting it All Together

Costume parade last Friday...WOW!  So much energy, so many cool, funny, and classy costumers!  Thanks to all who worked so hard on this!

Thanks to everyone who came to help yesterday, the set is coming together now.  It looks great on stage! Audiences will be wondering how all of that fits offstage! (we're kinda wondering that as well)

Welcome to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!

Wando High School Presents Scamming, Scheming, Laugh-Filled Evening
~ Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to open February 9 at Wando Performing Arts Center ~

Audiences will be laughing, humming and guessing until the end of the evening as Wando High School’s Fine Arts Department presents the hilarious musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in the Wando Performing Arts Center February 9-12.

Based on the popular 1988 film, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels centers on two con men - - the suave and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson and small-time crook Freddy Benson -- who try to out-con each other. When it becomes apparent that the Riviera isn't big enough for the both of them, they agree on a settlement; the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. The comical battle that ensues is pure musical mayhem.

Even though this a newer show, it is in the style of some of the “screwball comedy” movies of the 1930’s.Lawrence and Freddy are almost modern day versions of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. The music is very reminiscent of Henry Mancini’s movie scores, like ‘The Pink Panther’ and ‘Peter Gunn.’ It’s sophisticated but still cool and catchy.
