Dear Prospective Wando Parents,

We hope that your child is continuing to have a great 8th grade experience. Wando has finalized some of the plans for registering incoming 9th grade students.

Curriculum Fair
On Monday, April 26, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. we will be having the Curriculum Fair located on the Wando main Street (Main Hallway). This is a drop-in affair with no formal agenda. You may come at any time between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Parents and students will have the opportunity to interact with teachers from each department, examine textbooks, and ask specific curriculum related questions. In addition, members of the administration and guidance will be available to answer questions.

Registration schedule for students attending Moultrie, Laing or Cario:
Registration schedules for students attending Moultrie, Laing or Cario Middle Schools are listed below. Prior to registration the middle school guidance staff will be distributing Wando registration materials and sending this material home with your child. Parents should work with the middle school counselors to identify a time that they can be at the school to participate in the actual registration. Wando Guidance staff will be at the feeder middle schools on the following dates:

Moultrie--Friday, April 30, 2010
Laing-- Thursday, May 6, 2010
Cario--Friday, May 7, 2010

Registration for students attending CCSD middle schools other than Moultrie, Laing, and Cario.
Registration schedule for students attending Charleston County School District middle schools other than Moultrie, Laing, and Cario Middle Schools and who have been approved for transfer should schedule an appointment with the Wando Guidance Office at 881.8275. These appointments will start after June 4, 2010. We cannot register students who are already enrolled in another CCSD school until they complete this school year. Parents should bring with them to the registration appointment the following items:
1. Two proofs of residence (copy of lease or mortgage and a utility bill)
2. Latest report card (should document that student has been promoted to 9th grade)
3. Social Security Card
4. Birth Certificate
5. Current Immunization
6. Legal guardianship papers if student is living with someone other than the natural parent(s) or notarized CCSD Affidavit if parent and child live with a Mt. Pleasant/Sullivan's Island/ IOP resident.
7. Teacher recommendations for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
8. Other standardized test scores such as PSAT, PASS, SAT, ACT etc.

Registration for students who attend private schools:
Parents should call the Wando Guidance Department at 881-8275 to set up an appointment to register their child. These appointments will start in early May 2010.
