BIG BASH A BIG SUCCESS!

Our major PTSO fundraiser “Big Bash” was held on February 28th at Alhambra Hall.  This “Love the Lowcountry” party and silent auction cleared $28,000 for Wando High School!  A heartfelt thank-you goes out to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, & attendees for their contributions and support. Tammy Howe and Lauren Raycroft did an awesome job putting this thing on, be sure to give them a "high five". The funds raised are more critical than ever to our school, in this economic environment. Check out the lists below of sponsors, donors, and volunteers! Please remember to thank the donors and sponsors as you visit these local merchants.

Thank You Volunteers (from Tammy, Lauren and The PTSO Board):

I want to say a special Thank You to the volunteers that were in the long haul with us:

Our PTSO Treasurer Valerie Pulley tallied, deposited, checked out, and encouraged us every step of the way... and she is still working!

Amy Forcier-her decorations were amazing!  With design and setup help from Belle Hall teacher Leigh Bellino, Amy transformed Alhambra Hall into a picturesque lowcountry scene.  The Sweetgrass Bar was amazing... even the bathrooms were decorated!

Jane Norton, also a sponsor, for all of her help compiling our donations, helping with setup, and everything else (Her son Jay built the The Sweetgrass Bar).

Gale Fennell who procured all of the alcohol and helped so much with the auction.

Lisa Keenan-PTSO volunteer coordinator (& Sponsor) helped get volunteers, set up my computer, send out emails, update website and always encourage us.

Mary Anne Larkin & Wanda Forget who procured the desserts.  Mary Anne also got some key donations and hung in there even when she was sick.  Thank you so much.

Kitty Weaver, Tina Sease, & Karis Johnson got many valuable donations.. they pounded the pavement and went back time and again to prove that persistence pays off.

David Surrett (and wife Donna) also got donations, donated their mountain cabin (a popular auction item!) and helped so much at the event.

Lynne Plumb & Norma Kulseth worked as our teacher contacts at Wando and did a great job getting donations, selling tickets, and sending out info.  The baskets from the school store, surf club, Spanish club, African American club, and Math, Science, & Engineering Dept. were wildly popular.

Sarah DaCosta-organized volunteers and helped so much along the way.
Freddie & Delores Minnix helped with donations and stayed until the bitter end to help clean up and load.

Karen Clark  & Amy Gravino (sponsor) were was always there to help & encourage start to finish!

Kathi McDermott who helped sell tickets and helped all night long at the ticket/checkout tables.  On her "break" she ended up cleaning up a spill and taking out the garbage!

More to thank!:

The day of the event was hectic! Charmain Willingham & Coby Mozingo helped setup and organized the auction tables.  Patty Townsend (sponsor & volunteer) , Bobbie Petersen, Becki Altman, Debbie & Leah Shaffer, Connor Bright, Taylor Forcier, Bratton Fennell, Laura Snell, Jay Norton (built our sweetgrass stand!), Sandra Anderson (Sandra, you are great!  Sponsor, donor and volunteer with the big smile!) Susan Gilliam-ticket sales. Thank you all for your hard work! The ladies at the Wando (Jennifer, Bev & everyone) front desk who helped collect, sell tickets, and put up with our calls and visits!

Thank you everyone else who contributed!

With deep gratitude,
Tammy Howe & Lauren Raycroft
