Front Page

I have come to understand that there is a problem with the front page. If you leave it open for a long time, your browser may become unresponsive. (This is known as a Memory Leak). We are investigating this and will have it fixed as soon as possible.

E-Mails

Recently I have gotten a report indicating that e-mails are not not always being sent. An example would be the activation e-mail for the alumni database. I apologize for this issue, and am working to resolve it. If you are waiting for an activation email, but have not received it, please contact me at vcsjones@bellsouth.net and the account will be activated for you if I haven't done it already.

I am aware there are several issues with the Wando Website. I am doing my best to make time and improve on the site. Here is what I have been working on recently and what I plan to work on in the future.

Privacy

Lately there has been some growning concern about the Alumni Database and what people are putting in there. In some cases I have seen people with their full address for location. I would like to personally say that it is not recommended. The location is meant to be very generic, such as a school you are attending, or a City and State. I would also like to urge everyone to read the Terms and Agreements when signing up. The very first thing on there is warnings about putting personal information on it. Therefore, we are not responsible for any issues that may arise from you posting personal information. Currently there is something in the works for keeping e-mail addresses private. A user will be able to "hide" their e-mail address in the Alumni Directory. However, they will still be able to be contacted via a messaging page. Expect this feature soon.

Content

We know that there is a considerable amount of out-dated information on the site or missing information, and broken links. We try and have departments and teachers take responsibility for their web content. Thing that don't really belong to anyone are what I take care of, like the Public Services and the Front Page. Plus, there are only two webmasters. Visit the About Page to read about us. Usually I take care of things like this over the summer when I have a lot of free time and when I am in the country. If you want to help us out I'd love that, give us a shout and we'll be able to give you a task.

More Media

The Wando Front Page has a nice Random Image Generator I made which displays pictures that best represent Wando. The site really does lack media in my opinion, like an image gallery of full-size images, streaming media from concerts such as the Chorus, Band, and Orchestra. This type of content is being discussed and is in the works as I am writing this. Wando will begin a weekly podcast soon. Check the Highlights Page for new features or pay attention to the Front Page Ticker. If you are a subscriber to the newsletter we will send out information in that as well.

Suggestions

Thanks to people's feedback, we are carefully reviewing all of the suggestions and will implement them best to the needs of the website. Here are some of the feedback options that we are going to implement:

1. Provide information about all clubs currently at Wando. While we ask that clubs manage their own information on the website, we will start providing basic information about all clubs.
2. Providing more contact information, such as the PTSO and other organizations.
3. Information about the principal and assistant principals.
